Kindle E-Reader with Wifi
As the race to produce the best tablet device has heated up in recent years, many people have expressed bewilderment over the need for all these gadgets. While the iPad is undoubtedly cool, it doesn’t do much that a personal computer doesn’t do as well or better, and it’s more or less useless for anyone who has no need for a versatile gadget to use on the go. Still, even if you have no need for a portable device that does virtually everything, there’s no denying the usefulness of eReaders. Even for occasional readers, having a portable device is much more efficient than accumulating stacks and stacks of books.
The trouble with eReaders is that so far they have still been finding their footing. Amazon released several Kindles that were interesting but obviously needed some improvement, and then Apple’s iPad was simply overkill for anyone who just wanted a device for reading books. But thankfully, the technological innovation has finally caught up to the demand, and the newest generation of eReaders is giving gadget lovers what they’ve been waiting for.
Beautiful simplicity
The Kindle E-Reader with Wifi, without any of the bells and whistles, is undoubtedly the best simple eReader currently on the market. If all you want to do is read books and don’t need yet another device that lets you watch videos, browse the web, and sundry other tasks, then why pay more than you have to? For only around $80, a basic Kindle holds thousands of books and is only a little bigger than a smartphone.
And one thing to keep in mind about the latest version of the Amazon Kindle is that, while it’s cheap, it does not lack beauty or power. Anyone who hasn’t personally experienced the last few versions of Kindle might be surprised by how far the device has come. No longer is it that awkward, dull-screened device that wears on your thumb and strains your eyes. The latest version has a bright screen that makes the words pop on the page. And while you have to pay a little more for a touch screen, the controls on the most basic Kindle have also greatly improved over the years.
For a basic eReader, the newest Kindle packs a decent load of features into such a small package. Perhaps the best thing about the Kindle is the battery life. A fully charged Kindle not connected to Wi-Fi can go for a month, which means you don’t even have to bring a charger with you when you go on vacation. Another cool new feature is the ability to read PDFs and personal documents, which weren’t readable on older versions of Kindle.
Who should have a Kindle?
There are undoubtedly some people for whom the basic Kindle is not enough. Anyone who loves feature-rich gadgets would be better off with an iPad or even a Kindle Fire. But aside from that one restriction, the Kindle is great for anyone who loves to read. People who travel frequently, especially, can benefit from the Kindle because it prevents them from having to carry books around. Also, the Kindle is great for anyone who wants an eReader but already has a smartphone for most other tasks.
And of course, it’s worth mentioning that the basic Kindle is by far cheaper than all other eReaders on the market. Eighty dollars for a device that does so much is an incredible value, which makes the Kindle hard to pass up for anyone looking for a relatively cheap but highly impactful gift to give for Christmas or another special occasion. With the price so low, getting a Kindle is a no-brainer. The only question is whether to get the simple, no-frills one or one with a few more features.
